Dancing twins go independent
Hoping to change the dance industry and looking for greener pastures, Bruno and Simba leave Ogopa artist Oteya and go solo.
As it is with every child, there comes a time when they need to spread their wings and leave the nest. This is exactly what Bruno and Simba, known as artist Oteya's twin dancers, did. The dancers who have been with Oteya for the past ten years made the announcement that they will be going solo with their career.
The dancers, known by their stage name FDS, are clearly excited for their new journey and said they want to freelance and dance for anyone, choreograph for organisations and someday even start an academy of dance. Simba said it is all business and there is no animosity which triggered the need to leave Oteya. “We believe we can do better on our own and we want to challenge ourselves because when one relies on people they never know their own potential. We just want to see if we can make it on our own,” said they said.
The twins admitted to being aware that the dancing industry is risky but they believe in their talent and potential to be successful. They are very grateful for Oteya and Ogopa Butterfly as they learned a lot about the industry from them which prepared them for this great move.
“They showed us tough love and if it wasn't for that we wouldn't be who we are today. They made us believe and see our own worth and they will forever have an impact on our career,” said the twins.
The twins urge other dancers to use their talent for a greater cause by having faith. They say dancing will only be taken seriously if it is not done for the wrong reasons like for fame and fortune. The twins say each performance must be executed as if it was the last one and that is how performances are lit at live events or why people enjoy music videos more. They also urge local artists to unite within the industry as the bitterness contributes to killing the industry.
Artist Oteya bid the twins farewell in an emotional Facebook post wishing them all the best in their future endeavours and giving them her blessings. The twins are now available for gigs by contacting them on their social media platforms under the name FDS.
