Network Media Hub’s (NMH) youth brand, My Zone, is gearing up for its second annual media roadshow, which kicked off yesterday at Standard Bank Namibia’s head office in Windhoek.

The 2025 My Zone Media Roadshow, supported by Pupkewitz Motors, aims to reach over 400 learners from schools across Otjozondjupa, Hardap, ||Karas, Omaheke, Oshana, Kavango East and Oshikoto regions.

The initiative aims to equip learners and My Zone’s editorial team with skills in ethical journalism, social media management, television production and cutting-edge technologies such as chatbots.

Under the theme 'Navigating through Creative Storytelling', the roadshow seeks to encourage creativity and empower young storytellers with tools to thrive in the media industry.

According to the head of My Zone and youth development, Enzo Amuele, the programme has expansive reach and transformative potential.

“The media roadshow is set to impact over 300 learners with invaluable knowledge of journalism. This platform bridges the gap between urban and rural youth, fostering collaboration and creativity while emphasising media ethics and social media management".

Amuele said the roadshow has grown from a small-scale media camp to a programme with nationwide impact. “Initially, we hosted a three-day training session for a few learners. Today, we are travelling over 7 000 kilometres to reach as many schools as possible, engaging with learners in interactive workshops, team-building activities, and career guidance sessions".

One of last year’s participants, Brigitte Bezuidenhoudt, a school journalist from the Khomas Region, shared how the programme has changed her perspective on media. “I have captured the beautiful essence behind the camera. It has challenged me and improved my writing skills as a sports journalist".

Support at hand

Pupkewitz Toyota brand manager Shawapala Kandjabanga expressed his enthusiasm for supporting the 2025 My Zone Media Roadshow, highlighting the alignment with the company’s mission. “As a brand in the mobility space, our purpose is to drive excitement through mobility. This initiative allows us to not only fulfil our purpose but also empower Namibia’s future".

He emphasised the importance of ensuring the roadshow’s impact, saying “we want 90% of the kids to understand what they were taught. This would validate our efforts and prove the roadshow’s effectiveness".

Pupkewitz Toyota provides vehicles to enable the My Zone team to reach schools across the country. “This initiative is about more than mobility. It’s about empowering children with knowledge they can carry into the future to change Namibia for the better,” Kandjabanga added.

Last year, learners surprised organisers with unique storytelling ideas and impressive technical skills, which Amuele looks forward to seeing more of this year.

The roadshow’s success would not be possible without the contributions of key sponsors, including Standard Bank, Robiyati Distributors, Coca-Cola and NMH.
