JUST IN: Storage dams 73% full
The average level of the country’s main water reservoirs now stands at 73.4%, in comparison to last season’s 48.8%.
Only the Neckartal Dam (95.1%) and the Naute Dam (80.9%) are still above 80% of their capacity.
This is according to the dam bulletin issued by NamWater today.
The average of the dams in the central areas of Namibia is 44.8%, in comparison to last season’s 62.7%.
In the south of Namibia, the average level of the dams stands at 82.5%, while last season it was 53.1%.
Meanwhile the average level of the dams in in the east is at 15%. Last season the dams were only 27.8% full.
With regards to other dams in the country, the Olushandja Dam in the north is currently 10.3%, the same as last season, while the Omaruru Delta Dam in the Erongo region and the Omatjenne Dam in Otjozondjupa region are empty.
Cooler air is expected to persist in the //Kharas region tomorrow. It will be warm to hot in the south and the west, elsewhere partly cloudy and hot to very hot with a few to isolated thundershowers in the northeast in places.
