#Just In: Normal rainy season forecast for Namibia
A normal rainy season is expected for Namibia, despite El Niño conditions taking hold and the Indian Ocean being warmer than normal.
This is according to the seasonal weather forecast issued by the Namibian meteorological services on Monday, October 9.
"The Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is currently in a positive phase. It is predicted to become neutral by the end of the 2023-24 rainy season," the Ministry of Works and Transport's Jonas Sheelongo, Deputy Executive Director for Transport, said. The meteorological services fall under this ministry.
According to a statement issued by the service, an average to above average rainy season is expected for the majority of the country from October to December, while normal to below normal rainfall is expected in the south of the country.
