El Niño is expected to maintain its grip on global weather patterns throughout the summer, with a 95% chance of dominance from January to March. Furthermore, the likelihood of a strong El Niño occurring during the rainy season has recently increased by about 71%. This according to a 14 September outlook by the United States of America's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This report is a collaborative effort between NOAA, its national weather service and stakeholders.
