NTB sets up desk at HKIA to enhance travellers’ experience

The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) has officially launched a new information desk at Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA) to enhance the travel experience for visitors arriving in Namibia. This dedicated space aims to engage travellers, offering valuable insights and guidance to enrich their stay in the country.

NTB CEO Sebulon Chicalu described the initiative as a significant step forward in their mission to appreciate and welcome visitors from around the world. “Namibia remains politically and economically stable, peaceful, and a safe destination for all, including family and business travellers alike,” he said.

Chicalu emphasised that the information desk is more than just a physical presence at the airport - it symbolises NTB’s commitment to providing exceptional service and support to every visitor who sets foot on Namibian soil. “Our dedicated team of tourism ambassadors is available to assist travellers in planning their journeys, whether they are interested in exhilarating safaris, cultural experiences, or peaceful retreats in nature, including the breathtaking landscapes of the Skeleton Coast,” he said.

According to Chicalu, NTB aims to ensure maximum satisfaction for every traveller. “Going forward, NTB will intensify its awareness and stakeholder engagement programmes to expand the tourism economy to more rural areas,” he added.

He also highlighted the crucial role of tourism in an increasingly interconnected world, noting that it drives economic growth, connects people, and creates business opportunities for communities and young entrepreneurs. “Our services here will assist key stakeholders, such as local tour operators, transfer services, and taxi services, by facilitating information sharing and promoting good customer service practices,” he explained.

As part of its efforts to improve the visitor experience, NTB has implemented a survey platform at the information desk, gathering feedback from over 116 tourists since mid-January. This data will help the board identify travel trends and refine its strategic initiatives to continuously meet visitor expectations.

Acting NTB board chairperson Olavi Hamwele highlighted the importance of Hosea Kutako International Airport as the primary gateway to Namibia. “With this new initiative, we aim to enhance travellers’ journeys right from the start. We are confident that the team at the information desk will help set the tone for their entire stay, ensuring that they not only learn about Namibia but also experience the country’s warmth and hospitality,” he said.
