Napha praises Shifeta for his leadership

The Namibia Professional Hunting Association (Napha) has extended its gratitude to former environment and tourism minister Pohamba Shifeta for his years of dedicated service.

In a statement, the organisation praised Shifeta’s commitment to balancing environmental conservation with socio-economic development, describing it as a defining feature of his leadership.

Napha added that Shifeta oversaw several milestones “that have had a lasting impact on Namibia’s environment and tourism sectors”.

These included the continued strengthening of Namibia’s globally admired community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) programme and positioning Namibia as a leader in sustainable conservation.

“Under his stewardship, Namibia remained at the forefront of progressive conservation hunting practices, championing sustainable use as a vital tool in wildlife management and rural empowerment.”

Shifeta also oversaw the implementation of legislative and policy frameworks that strengthened environmental protection and improved tourism infrastructure, contributing to economic growth and job creation in remote areas, Napha said.

“His efforts in advocating for Namibia on international platforms have helped maintain the country’s standing as a model for conservation and sustainable tourism.”

Napha extended its best wishes to Shifeta as he transitions into new roles in parliament.

Welcome

At the same time, Napha extended a warm welcome to newly appointed environment and tourism minister Indileni Daniel.

“We look forward to continued collaboration in promoting responsible resource management, protecting Namibia’s natural heritage, and ensuring that both our people and our wildlife can thrive for generations to come," the organisation said.

Napha affirmed its commitment to supporting the ministry and expressed hope that the strong foundations laid by Shifeta will pave the way for even greater achievements in the future.
