Namibia pushes for Africa’s branding as tourist destination

The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) and the tourism ministry joined panel discussions at the 67th Meeting of the United Nations (UN) Tourism Regional Commission for Africa and the second UN Tourism Regional Conference on Brand Africa, themed ‘Promoting Africa to unlock tourism investments and the sector's growth potential’, which took place this week in Livingstone, Zambia.
NTB acting CEO Bonnie Mbidzo shared Namibia's perspective on the importance of branding Africa as a tourist destination and exploring ways to increase investment in the tourism sector.
"The conference presents an excellent opportunity for us to engage with other stakeholders and experts in the industry to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing African tourism," he said. "I am looking forward to sharing Namibia’s success stories and learning from others to identify new strategies for growth and development."
The conference aims to provide a platform for African countries to showcase their unique tourism products and experiences, while also discussing ways to address the challenges facing the sector, such as infrastructure development, marketing, promotion and sustainability.
