Coming soon to Gondwana’s Hakusembe River Lodge situated about 16km from Rundu in the Kavango Region, will be glamping tents.

According to Grant Januarie, manager at the lodge, they are aiming to have four glamping facilities ready by Easter.

He said that these tents will come with everything from cutlery, pots and pans a fridge, air cooler, mosquito nets and braai facilities.

The lodge already has four other camping facilities available each with its own braai stand and ablution facilities which includes a shower, toilet and sink for washing up.

Januarie said that they already offer a camping menu. Guests can buy wood, braai packs and even order a salad, bread and garlic bread.

The lodge is an idyllic location on the south bank of the Okavango River, overlooking Angola to the north.

The lodge enjoys a picturesque riverine setting ideal for self-drivers, families and those on a romantic honeymoon getaway in Namibia and provides an ideal stopover for a couple of nights on the way to the Zambezi Region from Etosha National Park or other areas in central northern Namibia.

Comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation is offered in 20 bungalows overlooking the river that can accommodate between 2 to 4 guests.

The air-conditioned bungalows are furnished with comfortable beds with mosquito nets and have en-suite bathrooms fitted with showers.

The lodge offers peaceful surroundings and the opportunity to cool off in the swimming pool, enjoy a drink at the bar or have delicious buffet meals at the restaurant.

A jetty and a deck for boarding boats are available. The lodge can also transform its reception and shop area into a small conference centre if needed.

It offers river-based activities, such as a breakfast cruise, fishing and birding trips. Guests can end their day with a champagne sundowner cruise before enjoying dinner under the stars.

Januarie said that really sets them apart is their friendly staff, birdlife and spectacular views.

“Signatory to the lodge is that we bring coffee and cookies every morning to our guests door, this include those travellers camping.”
