The event will take place in collaboration between the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) and the MTC Dome High-Performance Centre in Swakopmund. The event will see sport federations exhibiting their products.

The director of sport in the ministry, Jo-Ann Manuel, says the expo is set to bring everyone together.

“The expo will be used through sport to encourage, unify and elevate all Namibians, giving those in the sport industry a platform to market and showcase their sport codes and goods and services.

“The Namibia Sport Commission and the MTC Dome are committed to empower and inspire all Namibians through sports,” Manuel said. The expo will include a four-day programme that entails a sports conference between 8 to 10 December.

Variety on show

There will also be an expected 200 participants daily and workshops on 11 December, while a sport exhibition will run simultaneously at the indoor sport centre for accredited local and international sport affiliations to exhibit their products.

The focus of the expo and conferences will be on new training methodologies, high performance sports, and development pathways.

The latest sports apparel and equipment as well as creating new affiliations and partnerships will also be on the agenda of the expo.

New possibilities

The CEO of the MTC Dome, Fanus Engelbrecht, expressed excitement over the partnership.

“The partnership between the MTC Dome and NSC has the potential to mean a lot to the federations and the athletes.

“This collaboration will enable the people that are close to the federations to make it their home and to start using it. As Ulla Finkeldey said, the MTC Dome is there for the athletes with its top facilities,” Engelbrecht noted.

The CEO further lauded the sports ministry, the NSC, Namibia Breweries Limited, New Era and all other stakeholders for making the event possible.

It was announced that the proceeds from the event would go to the development of athletes.
