The Newton Sports Agency has strongly denied allegations suggesting that Christine Mboma intends to cut ties with the agency.

In a press statement, the agency maintains that the Tokyo 2020 Olympics silver medallist is contracted to them and has not at any point signalled that she wants to sever ties with them.

“At present, Ms Mboma is still represented by Newton Agency, and the company has to date received no notification from her indicating a desire to terminate her agreement.

“In fact, as of today, Ms Mboma’s official Instagram account continues to indicate that she is presented by the agency,” the statement reads.

Dedicated

The agency released its press statement in response to media reports that alleged that the Namibian athlete had decided to move away from the agency.

The company further expressed their dismay over reports which they have deemed as defamatory.

Newton stated that it has dedicated itself to providing the best service.

“Newton Agency is committed to providing world-class service to all its athletes across the world and we remain committed to conducting business according to the highest ethical and professional standards.”

The agency further added that they are bonded by an exit clause protecting both parties, which is standard in every athlete’s representation contract.
