Immanuel ‘Imms’ Moses, who has watched Flames Nangolo grow up before his eyes, is about to witness his protégé fight in one of the biggest bouts of his career to date.

Nangolo has been in action for a number of years now after turning professional at the age of just 18.

Now, at the age of 21, he will go toe-to-toe and fist-to-fist against experienced boxer Ndodana Ncube of Zimbabwe.

“I have been training Flames ever since he was a kid, and I know that he is ready for a big fight,” Moses said. “I am not putting him on the line, but it is about time he took a step further in his career.

“It is why I decided to give him the opportunity to fight for an international title against an experienced boxer,” he said.

Victory after victory

Nangolo boasts a record of seven fights with seven victories ever since his first professional bout in December 2019. His opponent, Ncube, has a record of eight wins and three losses in his 11 professional career fights.

Moses says Nangolo has progressed into a fine boxer who has the potential to dethrone the world’s best.

“Ncube has already fought Jeremiah Nakathila and Sakaria Lukas and lost both of the fights.

“He has the opportunity to make it a third victory for Namibia against Ncube. “The opportunity is now in his hands to win this fight and go on to win more titles,” Moses noted.

Nangolo’s last fight was against David Shinuna in April, which saw him claim victory.

In December 2021, Nangolo claimed a precious victory over veteran boxer Abraham Ndauendapo to win the Namibian super featherweight title.

Prepared to win

Nangolo is optimistic that he will be on top of his game when he meets Ncube in the ring.

“I have been preparing for such a fight all my career and there is no way I am going to lose this one.

“I know that Ncube is a professional and a good boxer, but I will make sure the vacant title remains in Namibia,” Nangolo said.

Moses added that there will be eight supporting bouts, with Vikapita Meroro also set to compete on the night. “It will be a dining night and a table seating for 10 is going for N$15 000, while general tickets cost N$200.

“Staging such an event will cost us around N$300 000 and it is for this reason we call on sponsors to come on board because we do not have any at the moment,” Moses remarked.

Moses added that there will be eight supporting bouts, with Vikapita Meroro also set to compete on the night.

Johannes Andreas will battle Steven Shilomboleni over four rounds, while Ruaan Raspel faces Haimbondi Petrus.

Petrus Salom will trade leather with Johnny Herman. Alfues Shaanika, Hafeni Ngesheya and Kasera will all be in action too.
