Harry Simon Academy to host Usakos tournament
Amateur boxing
A Fight Night is heading to the Erongo town.
The Harry Simon Boxing Academy is set to host an amateur tournament in Usakos on Friday 27 October at the Youth Centre. The Boxing Academy paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Mayor, Irene Simeon, to discuss the upcoming tournament.
Professional boxer Harry Simon Junior said from his point of view this tournament will be used as a platform for training.
“This is just the warm-up phase for my bigger fights as well as a platform to equip the future stars with new skills. This will also be an opportunity to get me fit and find new strategies to face my bigger opponents.”
The event is intended as a one of a kind exhibition and it would serve to encourage youngsters to consider boxing as a career.
“This event will also serve as a fundraising initiative for Harry Simon Junior’s upcoming boxing match on 9 December. Tickets will be available for N$25 at Engen One Stop Usakos. VIP tickets will be available for N$350 and limited seats are available.”
A representative of the boxers from Usakos, known as “Smoke”, commended the event and thanked the organisers for choosing Usakos to host this event.
“We have more than ten boxers entered from Usakos. We are very happy, because it’s the first such event in Usakos and many upcoming boxers are looking forward to it. We need more opportunities of this calibre in Usakos to boost the confidence levels of the young locals. We invite all members of Usakos to come in numbers and support the sport and the boxers.”
