African Stars, Chula set for first clash
League battles continue
The Debmarine Namibia Premiership resumes this weekend as African Stars take on newcomers Chula Chula FC on Saturday.
There are many premier league matches slated for this weekend, but the match that has generated buzz on social media and elsewhere will take centre stage at the Hage Geingob Stadium between African Stars and Chula Chula FC on Saturday.
On an ordinary day, a match between league newcomers and the champions would have attracted little interest.
However, the fixture set for 16:00 has been hyped, given the form of the newcomers and the media attention they have generated.
African Stars set a high bar last season for consistently drawing crowds wherever they played, with fans filling Oshakati Stadium on successive occasions.
Stars beat Okahandja United 4-0 in their last match and will be hoping to continue with their form.
The Oshakati-based side, on the other hand, held Tigers FC to a 1-1 draw during their last match.
Unmissable showdown
The bookmakers would favour the champions to have an easy run against the newly-promoted side.
Chula Chula have, however, proven that they can be a bogey team after recording victories over mature Premier League teams in recent times.
"We invite all the fans to come in their numbers and watch the match.
“African Stars are ready, and we will make sure that we make the fans happy on the day,” captain Ronald Ketjijere said.

Unam FC are set to host in-form Ongos FC at the university's football field at the same time.
Young African Football Club will travel all the way to Otjiwarongo to battle Life Fighters FC at 16:00.
On Sunday, Chula Chula will be entertained by Orlando Pirates in an early 14:00 kickoff at SKW Stadium.
