‘Special One’ embraces Pambeni challenge

The Zimbabwean's experience will test Nangolo's heart and flair in the main fight.
Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo says a victory against Zimbabwean boxer Peter Pambeni will be the next step to unlock his dreams of becoming a world champion one day.
The two will square off in a World Boxing Association (WBA) Africa super featherweight title fight this coming Saturday at the Roman Catholic Hall in the capital.
The 23-year-old Nangolo has always highlighted his eagerness to fight for a world title and to become a world champion one day.
For him to move closer to that dream, he will have to beat the 38-year-old Pambeni in order to move closer to challenging for the world title.
Nangolo said he has been training for years and he believes the fight against “Sniper” Pambeni comes at the right time in his career.
“I have been preparing for something like this all my life and I just think this opportunity is great for me to move up.
“I am always ready (to fight), because those training with me and guiding me through my career have made it possible for me to be the boxer I am.
“This is a big opportunity for me because a victory can almost guarantee me a crack at the world title in the near future,” Nangolo said.
The Namibian, who fights under AC Boxing Promotions, hopes to keep his unbeaten boxing record intact on the way to his ultimate dream of becoming a world champion.
Nangolo, who made his professional debut in 2019, has since won all of his 11 fights so far.
His last fight resulted in a third-round technical knockout win over another Zimbabwean, Jeremiah Mhere, on 13 April at the Roman Catholic Hall in Windhoek.
He however faces an experienced, seasoned boxer who has already fought 29 times in his professional career.
Pambeni has won 18 fights in the paid ranks (6 KOs), while losing eight (knocked out six times), with three ending as a draw.
The Zimbabwean fighter is also on a redemption path given that he lost his last boxing bout against Harvey Mkacha of Malawi on 28 April this year.
Undercard
The stable will have more determined boxers in action during the build-up, including their new addition Charles Shinima who joined the stable from the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Promotions.
Shinima (17-1, 11 KOs) formerly held the WBO Africa welterweight belt, before moving up to super welterweight and losing his first pro fight against Denis Nurja of Albania in March. He will be looking to put away Stephanus Kakololo, who has lost all three his pro fights to date, in his quest to re-establish himself in the bigger league.
Also on the undercard: Hafeni Ngesheya v Josef Abel (national super featherweight title, 10 rounds); Ruan Rispel v Silvanus Denzel (lightweight, 4 rounds); Robert Ndalelwa v Nicanor Alweendo (welterweight, 4 rounds) and Johannes Andreas v Simon Angula (welterweight, 4 rounds).
AC Boxing Promotions promoter Immanuel ‘Imms’ Moses has promised fireworks from all the boxers on the night.
“It is a great opportunity for Nangolo and every other boxer who will be in action on the day.
“I would therefore would like to invite the fans to come in their numbers, to support the fighters and make this a memorable evening for us,” Moses said.
Tickets are selling for N$200 (general access) or N$500 for the VIP seats closer to ringside, while a table will sell for N$15 000.
The doors will open at 19:00, with the first fight scheduled to start at 19:30.
