Football fever is back! Fans are gearing up for the highly anticipated return of action-packed football across all national leagues under the Namibia Football Association (NFA) umbrella.
This coming weekend marks a significant milestone, as the Debmarine Namibia Premiership kicks off on Friday, while the FNB Women’s Super League (WSL), Namibia Women’s Football Division (NWFD), and regional leagues get started on Saturday.
Fans are encouraged to flock to stadiums across the country and be part of this exhilarating season.
Registration period extended
To ensure all clubs have ample time to complete their administrative processes, the NFA extended the registration period for all leagues until 9 December 2024.
League director Mabos Vries expressed his excitement for the new season and called on fans to support their favourite teams: “We invite all football lovers to come in big numbers to support their local clubs.
“We also call on the media to continue capturing, writing, and producing compelling stories that will elevate Namibian football to greater heights.”
Economic growth through football
The NFA has highlighted the economic opportunities football brings, inviting small and medium-sized enterprises to set up stalls at match venues. This initiative aims to boost local businesses by encouraging the sale of food and beverages during matchdays.
Julinho Sporting’s major rebranding
In an exciting development, Julinho Sporting has merged with Girls & Goals from the FNB Women’s Super League and the Athletic Club Football Academy, rebranding as Julinho Athletic Football Club. The newly formed team has secured sponsorship worth N$300 000 from the Millennium Group, positioning them strongly for the upcoming season.
