Ongos fires five past Angels

FC Ongos Ladies coach Shama Gure once again proved to be a hard man to please after demanding more from his players, even after a win on Saturday.

The ladies defeated V-Power Angels 5-0 at the NFA Technical Center in what many described as an expected victory. However, Gure felt that his team did not approach the match in the manner he wanted.

“It took us a while to get into the match and play the way we are expected to.

“The halftime talk was a bit of a roasting, and I think the girls came out stronger in the second half.

“I am still, however, not pleased with the overall performance, which is why we have to improve,” Gure said.

A brace by Memory Ngonda and Ivonne Kooper, along with a goal by Kleintjie Fredericks, ensured that Ongos Ladies FC thumped V-Power Angels.

V-Power Angels skipper Kristofina Benyameni expressed disappointment following the defeat. However, she lauded the players for their efforts in the first half of the match.

“I do not think the overall result reflects the shift we put in today.

“We had a good first half because we gave them little room to play.

“Our fitness levels were, however, put to the test in the second half, and they took advantage of that,” Benyameni said.
