Nauhaus: Youngsters to be tested by SA U19

The three-match 50-over series starts on Monday morning.
Cricket Namibia is looking forward to the three-match series between its young selection and the touring South African Under-19 team.
Oscar Nauhaus, Cricket Namibia’s high-performance manager and the appointed coach of the local selection, said: “We know SA U19 will provide a stern test for our players, because they are coming here with their probable U19 World Cup squad (2027, co-hosted by Namibia and Zimbabwe).
“This presents us with the opportunity to test not only our U19 players, but also players who have just left school. Our squad is a combination of players who are involved in our senior HP squad and junior U19 HP systems
“Opportunities like this help build a link between players who have left our U19 system and have moved into our senior men’s pathway system.
“The series will be challenging, but that's how we improve, it provides an opportunity for players to be exposed to the highest level of cricket and grow. At the same time we want to win, we want to show we can compete, and we are on home soil!”
The Namibian selection is captained by Alexander Volschenk, who led Namibia to last year’s ICC U19 World Cup in South Africa, who will also be re-united with 2024 team mates such as seam bowlers Jack Brassell and Junior Kariata, seam-bowling all-rounder Zacheo van Vuuren and spin-bowling all-rounders Faf du Plessis and PD Blignaut.
This year’s junior team did not make the qualification to the next ICC U19 World Cup, but some individuals did play their part and were rewarded with a chance to test their level.
