National BMX champs conclude in style

The Namibian Cycling Federation BMX Nationals, sponsored by RMB Namibia, brought together young BMX enthusiasts for an exciting showdown at the IJG Trails in Kleine Kuppe, Windhoek, on Saturday, 23 November 2024. This highly anticipated event featured competitors from BMX clubs across the country, including Rundu, Okahandja, Outapi, Omuthiya, P.A.Y, Kayec, Otjiwarongo, and Spoke Stars.
The event catered to riders aged 8 and under, as well as the 16 and under categories. Here’s a breakdown of the highlights:
Girls U16 Results
1 Precious Andre (Rundu BMX), 2. Aina Gottfield (Omuthiya BMX), 3. Uupindi Selma (Oshakati BMX).
Andre, who trains at the Kayec BMX Club in Rundu, expressed her excitement after her victory: “It was nice to win. I really enjoyed the competition and look forward to more wins.”
Boys U16 Results
1 Torrence Morkel (P.A.Y), 2. Warren Kamaze (P.A.Y), 3. Owen Gariseb (Kayec BMX).
Reigning champion Torrence Morkel attributed his success to rigorous training and familiarity with the track:
“I practise a lot here, so I’m used to the track, which made it easier. I didn’t find a lot of competition and focused on myself.”
