Napso's rural talent to the fore
School sports
Selection for teams to represent the Namibia Private Schools Organisation during upcoming tours to South Africa could be a motivation at the back of the minds of athletes during the four-day Napso weekend reaching its climax tomorrow.
Elnatan Private School at Stampriet has been buzzing with parents and children from private schools across the country.
Hundreds of visitors attended Wednesday night’s crowning of Elma Kriel (Tsumeb Gymnasium) as Miss Private Schools, with her princesses Joy Lewis (Walvis Bay PS) and Melanie van der Merwe (Gobabis Gymnasium).
Henré Opperman (Gobabis Gymnasium) was named Mr Private Schools, with Russel Bartlett (Tsumeb Gymnasium) and Christo Smith (Walvis Bay PS) also recognised in the top three.
Hockey, netball, rugby, chess, archery and jukskei are sports codes on offer for teams and individuals from primary school to senior secondary school age groups.
On the rugby field yesterday, Walvis Bay PS won their match against Outjo’s Moria by 10-8, while Pro-Ed Academy overcame Windhoek Affies by 17-3.
