Nangolo delivers TKO, keeps clean record

The Zimbabwean opponent conceded defeat after a body blow late in the third round.
Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo wasted little time on Saturday night on his way to beating Zimbabwean boxer Jeremiah Mhere by a third round technical knockout in a junior lightweight bout.
The fighters squared off in the main bout at the AC Boxing Promotions fundraising event held at the Roman Catholic Hall in Windhoek.
Nangolo started off the fight aggressively and oozing with confidence as he dominated the first two rounds with great jabs and body hooks.
Mhere tried to counter Nangolo in the first rounds, but the Namibian’s movement proved elusive for the visitor.
The third round saw Nangolo picking up the tempo and hitting his opponent with fierce punches. Halfway through the round, the Zimbabwean needed a few moments to recover after an accidental clash of heads.
In the last seconds of round 3, Nangolo then caught Mhere with a body punch which, like with the head clash, caused the opponent to simply drop his hands and turn his back on the danger. Referee Fillemon Mweya stepped in to his rescue, but Mhere (now with a 10-5 professional record) dropped to his knees in a corner and failed to recover in time to beat the count.
It was Nangolo’s 11th straight win out of 11 professional fights. The unbeaten boxer’s potential has been praised since his teenage years by his trainer and promotor Imms Moses.
“I am happy with the victory and would just like to thank my promoter for making this possible.
“I would also like to thank the fans that came in numbers to support me and the sponsors that made it possible in this one," Nangolo said after the fight.
The main supporting bout of the night saw Ruan Rispel beating debutant Paulus Iipinge by a unanimous decision over four rounds.
Hafeni Ngesheya also won his bout after dominating Nicanor Halweendo over six rounds.
Petrus Salom won his fight against Martin Kampulu over six rounds.
Josef Ampweya delivered a knockout in the second round as he beat Robert Ndalelwa.
Moses, the founder of AC Promotions, thanked those that made the event possible.
“I want to thank everyone that came out to watch this event tonight.
“We have been busy working and making sure that the money we get from events of such nature is put to a good use,” Moses said.
