Mika and Jessica dominate Fittest in the Namib

Spectators were treated to a show at the Mole beach and the SFC sports field.
The growth and standard of CrossFit in the country seems in pretty good shape if last weekend’s Fittest in the Namib at Swakopmund served as any indication.
As expected, the versatile 17-year-old talent Mika Pilzer once again showed that he is ready for more competition abroad, as he dominated the individual men’s competition from start to finish.
The first two of five gruelling rounds of Fittest in the Namib started at the Mole beach on Friday, before moving to the SF sports field. Only competitors in the top half of the competition remained for the sixth and final round, which was focused around some calisthenics moves and weights.
The well-organised event tested the athletes’ durability to the maximum.
Despite the absence of some potential contenders and with much fewer entries from South Africa as was the case last year, the standard of the local entries was quite competitive. Spectators were treated to a show as men and women from all over the country gave their best.
