Magic wins league
Another win for a top team
Tura Magic are determined to end with a maximum of points, even though their victory has been sealed.
Tura Magic, coached by Shama Gure, are once again the FNB Women's Super League winners with one more match to play.
On Saturday, the Magicians played exceptional football, beating the V-Power Angels 4-1; however, Gure was not impressed with the turnout of supporters.
He stressed that the team will continue to work to achieve maximum points with one match remaining – even though their victory has been sealed.
Plan executed
In another match on Saturday, Unam beat Girls & Goals 1-0.
Unam's coach, Thuba Sibanda, said they had a plan coming into the game. "We approached this game with the same intensity and focus as all other games and allowed the girls to execute the plan, and I’m proud."
With regards to the league wrap-up, Sibanda said one can only do so much.
"Football is football, and every season is different. We came in with an open mind, we had a target in terms of the points we wanted to reach, and we even went beyond that target. In the first leg, we even beat Magic. We are happy; it gives us a lot on what we need to work on. We got a chance to test our young players and give them time. Next season, they would have then matured."
Maintain points
Girls & Goals' Mamie Kasaona said it was a 50/50 match, and her players rose to the occasion. Kasaona, who is a player as well as a coach, said she picked up an injury and could not finish the match.
She said she looks forward to the coming weekend and hopes that her team can maintain their second spot. She added that she also looks forward to seeing some of her players called up for the national team.
