Johannes eyes Bogota Half Marathon

Limba Mupetami
Helalia Johannes, Namibia's queen of road running, is looking to compete in the Bogota Half Marathon in Columbia in October, after missing the Spar Grand Prix Challenge in South Africa.
The Bogota marathon attracts a number of high-profile runners and will give Johannes another chance to elevate her status.
This comes after Johannes’ team made the decision to pull her out of the 10km Spar Grand Prix Challenge, which took place on Saturday.
Her longtime coach, Robert Kaxuxuena, said the competition in Birmingham was quite tough for the veteran athlete as the course was very hilly, ‘‘and so we made a decision for her to skip the race in order to rest."
The Grand Prix race was won by Ethiopia’s Tadu Nare, who stormed to victory in a time of 32 minutes, and 44 seconds.
Johannes, who just recently won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, won the first Spar Grand Prix race in Gqeberha this year.
The one she missed recently, was the fourth one in the six-series race.
There are two more races to go.
