International Pairs gain momentum

The 2023 Windhoek Lager International Pairs series will reach its Central Regional final this Saturday, with qualified players from Mariental, Okahandja, Omeya and Windhoek contesting at the Windhoek Golf Club.
Two of the last three regional finals of the Windhoek Lager International Pairs were completed last weekend at the Rössmund and Oranjemund Golf Clubs.
At the coast, Peter Fox and Wouter van Wijk were victorious, with Douw van Wyk and Frederik Coetzee second. Hans Naobeb and Clive Lawrence grabbed the third position.
In Oranjemund, Chesney Anderson and Frank Beukes of the Rosh Pinah Golf Club were the winning pair for the Southern Region
The six pairs from Mariental are Boy Vollgraaff/Morné Blaauw, Ben Maritz/Douw Steyn, Corné Karsten/Gerrit Louw, Kiewiet Dreyer/Andy Langworthy, Frans Isaacks/Collen Kenneth and Monroe O' Callaghan/Jaco van Zyl.
Okahandja will be represented by five pairs, namely Freddie Koch/Dewald du Rand, Hendrik Malan/Jan Conradie, TJ Lambert/Tom Lambert, Sammy Joubert/Lombard Koch and Gerrit Viljoen/Kobus Zietsman.
Omeya’s 13 pairs are George Lumley/Lydia Lumley, Abrie van Wyk/Lukas Dreyer, Doulaine Holtzhausen/Len Haasbroek, Anecia le Grange/Frikkie le Grange, Ralph Blauuw/Meliki Shoozi, Dmitri Renton/Dieter Schrywer, Paul Verburg/Mario Reiter, Dina Holtzhausen/Douglas Holtzhausen, Charles Fourie/Harry Hanstein, Gert Lambert/Ernie Wessels, Peter Johns/Collin Hart, Eric Verburg/Paul Verburg as well as Herman Mouton/Piet Langenhoven.
Windhoek with 21 pairs have the strongest representation, with Evelyn Paulino/Dignity Moyo, Johannes Goagoseb/Inklous Suze, Dewald Coetzee/Raymond van Zyl, Borris Erasmus/Mannetjies Burger, Lukas Hamata/Johannes Xoagub, Heinco Schmidt/David Fourie, Joseph Martin/Thomas Shitaleni, Melt van Schoor/Danie van Schoor, Inocencio Verde/Peter Nghinyotwa, Likius Nande/Penda Naanda, Stefanus van der Merwe/Burger Bergh, Victor Nghifindaka/Peter Shikongo, Stefanus Reitz/Devin van Rooyen, Chuka Okafur/Julian Stoffels, Lukas Steven/Toady Gurirab, Keith Gardiner/Clinton Dodds, Milton Eiseb/Fergusson Paulse, Phillipus Steenberg/Armand Smit, Jolene van Schoor/George Vink, Elias Mulombelwa/Antonio Gamito and Monty Rukoro/Justus Amutenya in the mix.
THE PRIZE
Only the winning pair of the Windhoek Lager International Pairs National final on 15 and 16 September at Omeya and Windhoek Golf Club will proceed to take on the world’s best amateur pairs in Portugal.
The World finals are scheduled to be held from 6 to 10 November in Lisbon at the Royal Obidos and Bom Secesso Golf Club Resort.
