The MTC Salute Boxing Academy lived up to expectations after its boxers successfully defended their titles at the Safari Hotel in Windhoek on Saturday.
Namibian boxer Fillemon Ngutenyane said he had to improvise to secure a victory after injuring his right hand in the first round of his title defence.
Ngutenyane successfully defended his WBA PAN Africa title after beating Ally Ngwando of Tanzania by TKO in the seventh round.
"I injured my right hand, and so I had to use my left for most of the rounds.
"I am happy that I managed to get the victory at the end of the day, successfully defending my title in the process," Ngutenyane noted.
Champions
Immanuel Joseph defended his WBO Africa flyweight title after beating South Africa's Tisetso Modisadife by a unanimous decision in a fight that was stopped in the sixth round following a bad cut to Joseph's forehead.
Abed Shikongo was crowned the new welterweight national champion after beating Simon Shafodino by unanimous decision.
Harry Simon Jr defeated Limbani Chikapa of Malawi by a second-round TKO after Limbani threw in the towel.
"I hoped I could have more time with him so that I could display more skills because we were working on body punching him.
"I want to thank my father, Harry Simon, and my coach for giving me the opportunity to fight this one," Simon Jr said.
Pleasing results
Samuel Nande Junius beat Petrus Mathews by a unanimous decision in a welterweight fight.
Paulus Morgan was victorious against Immanuel Nghilongwa, while Joiy Nangolo and Mathews Nghikevali drew in their super flyweight bout.
Matias Hamunyela was defeated by Nelson Malangu. Mervin Nguno outsmarted Elson Kalus. Andreas Shikongo managed a TKO against Fillipus Amwaama.
Paulus Shonena beat Gabreil Jamba, while Immanuel Andeleki outscored Teofelush Nashilongo.
Tomas Shifiona beat John Shitilitha, while Lazarus Shaningwa made easy work of Malawi’s Israel Kammwamba and Lukas Ndafoluma beat Mussah Mkwanda of Malawi.
MTC Salute founder Kiriat Kamanya said he was pleased with the results of the day and the quality of the boxing.
