The president of the Namibia Horse Racing Association, Mannes Hendriks expressed satisfaction with the turnout at the FNB July Handicap held at Okahatjipara Turf in Okondjatu as the Okahandja Racing Club’s speedster Imperial Ruby stole the show.

Imperial Ruby took first place in the Import Open 2200 metres race, thus winning his owner N$20 000.

La Luvia of Angermund took second place, with the owner earning N$12 000, whereas Aminius French Leave took third place with N$8 000 winnings.

In the 2000 metres race, Aminius Racing Club’s Lady Diamond took first place, followed in second and third by Ovitoto Racing’s Freedom Fighter and Harambee’s Mboma in third place.

“It’s been a great day. Horse lovers came out in numbers, people ignored the cold weather and the strong winds to support horse racing.

“Okahandja Racing did extremely well, with two race wins and a third place,” Hendriks said.

“Starlile did not start the final race, after something went wrong at the starting stalls, but Imperial Ruby won the main race. I want to thank the Okahandja Racing team for always pushing and going the extra mile and lastly to nutritionist Martinus Gwai for always making sure our horses are well fed for the big races.”
