The Harry Simon Boxing Academy is set to host the Amateur Boxing Tournament in Usakos on 27 October at the Youth Centre. The Boxing Academy paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Mayor, Irene Simeon, to discuss the upcoming tournament.

Harry Simon Jnr said that this tournament will be used as a platform for training. "This is just the warm-up phase for my bigger fights as well as a platform to equip the future stars with new skills. This will also be an opportunity to get me fit and find new strategies to face my bigger opponents."

The event is one of a kind and it serves to encourage youngsters to consider boxing as a career. "This event will also serve as a fundraising initiative for the upcoming Harry Simon Junior Boxing match on 9 December. Tickets will be available for N$25 at Engen One Stop Usakos. VIP tickets will be available for N$350 and limited seats are available."

A representative of the boxers from Usakos, 'Smoke', commended the event and thanked the organisers for choosing Usakos to host this event. "We have more than ten entries from Usakos. We are very happy because it's the first in Usakos and many upcoming boxers are looking forward to it. We need more events of this calibre in Usakos to boost the confidence levels of the young locals. We invite all members of Usakos to come in numbers and support the sport and the boxers."

For more information contact the promoter Phillip Swartbooi at 264 813790755. Usakos participants may contact Smoke at the Youth Centre at 0812969312
