Gesture to appreciate caddies

Francois Properties has come forward with an initiative to benefit the registered caddies of the Windhoek Golf Club. Michau Basson of Francois Properties, a former national tennis player and keen golfer, has donated N$10 000 to ensure that caddies will be assured of a daily lunch at the golf club’s restaurant.
“In these challenging economic times, we are aware that golf caddies usually take taxis to and from the Windhoek Golf Club and that on some days they may not have significant earnings if there doesn’t happen to be golf bags to carry for the day.
“With this gesture, we put out a bit of a challenge to other companies involved in golf days throughout the year to assist making life better for caddies.”
During early January, Basson also donated N$10 000 to be shared among the caddies at Swakopmund’s Rössmund course, which he had received as a charity gift from Kosmos Radio during December.
