Former CEO Forster passed away

Cricket Namibia yesterday announced the passing of Peter Forster, their former chief executive officer, on 16 November 2024 at the age of 64 years.
“We are saddened by the passing of our former CEO, Peter Forster. His kindness, care and dedication left a lasting impact on us all. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, Peter – you will be greatly missed,” the governing body posted in a message on social media.
Forster took over from Donovan Zealand as Cricket Namibia’s CEO until he resigned from the position in June 2019, to be replaced by the incumbent, Johan Muller.
According to Forster’s LinkedIn profile, he was a qualified civil engineer, company owner, CEO and later sports administrator.
“I graduated with a degree in civil engineering at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom and subsequently registered as professional engineer in Namibia in 1988.
“Following diverse employment I therefore now have over 25 years experience as a professional engineer in consulting. Since 1999 I have developed extensive experience in the financial and management aspects of small and medium businesses through day to day responsibility for the company administration of the various companies that I have owned.
“In 2017, sensing the need for change, I took the position of CEO for Cricket Namibia which position I relinquished in June 2019.”
Pierre de Bruyn, the current head coach of Namibia’s senior men’s cricket team the Richelieu Eagles, was appointed effective 1 January 2019 (announced in November 2018) during Forster’s term. De Bruyn has steered the Eagles to qualifying for the last three editions of the ICC T20 World Cup.
