Empowering the Game: New kits for Namibia’s national football teams

In a momentous step for Namibian football, Tim Ekandjo and associates officially handed over four sets of kits to the Namibia Football Association (NFA), intended for use by the senior national teams — the Brave Warriors and the Brave Gladiators.
The donation, valued at N$485,000, comprises an extensive package for each player, including four official match kits, golf shirts, casual vests, various types of shorts, multi-coloured bibs, training gear, tracksuits, branded sneakers, water bottles, and personalised kit bags. This comprehensive contribution addresses a long-standing issue, with both national teams having previously shared the same kit due to limited resources.
“This handover gives me great pleasure,” said Ekandjo. “It is my desire that this new kit will encourage and inspire our players to give their best on the pitch. With the Brave Warriors currently second in their World Cup qualifying group, a strong performance could very well see Namibia make history by qualifying for the world’s biggest football tournament for the first time.”
He emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in nation-building, noting that initiatives like this not only boost morale but also reinforce national pride, unity, and identity. “Uniformity in appearance builds team spirit and a sense of belonging. These kits will provide that, both on and off the field.”
This generous donation also highlights the growing momentum behind local investment in sport, aligning with the government’s agenda to prioritise sport as a key driver of social and economic development. Deputy Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, Honourable Dino Balotti, has repeatedly encouraged Namibians to “produce local, buy local, and support local.” The sentiment was echoed in this handover, showcasing the vital role of local entrepreneurship and private sector engagement.
The government continues to show its commitment to sport through infrastructure expansion and developmental plans aimed at enhancing access to quality facilities and sporting opportunities across all 121 constituencies. The NFA, in turn, has been proactive in securing sponsorships and initiating grassroots projects aimed at nurturing future stars.
Ekandjo extended special gratitude to local supplier 90mins+ for their role in ensuring the national teams receive top-quality attire, and for their continued commitment to working with all Namibian national teams.
Replicas of the new kits will soon be available to the public, offering supporters a chance to show solidarity with the Brave Warriors and Brave Gladiators by purchasing and proudly wearing the gear.
This milestone stands as a shining example of what can be accomplished when government, private individuals, and businesses unite in support of sport. It is a call to action for others to invest in the future of Namibian athletics and to collectively propel the nation's athletes onto the global stage.
