Elisenheim, Sorendal the decisive round
Motorcycle Enduro
The eighth and final leg of the Namibian Enduro Club's national championship series will be completed tomorrow from 07:00 a stone's throw north of the capital at Sorendal near Elisenheim.
The Enduro Club will also present its annual award ceremony on Saturday evening where the respective champions will be crowned.
Pro and Senior Pro riders will tackle three laps of 15.4 kilometres; the Intermediate class does three laps of 13.7 km; the Junior and Women’s classes five laps of 4.2 km, while the Rookie class will do 12 laps of 4.2km.
The seventh round of the national enduro motorcycle championship was concluded with great enthusiasm near Omaruru on 5 October, where 29 participants in their respective classes tackled the rough terrain.
Quinton van Rooyen, Jörn Greiter, Brandon Juling, Hilmar Griebel, Harry Kibble, Maike Bochert and Peter Till all collected full points by dominating their respective classes.
The enduro championship is not about speed, but how skillfully the rider can overcome the technical parts of the various routes.
Riders are required to mount climbs over very steep hills, or between giant rocks, while now and then there could be a section through a sandy river bed, or a section through open field where some acceleration is possible.
At various transmission transmitters along the route riders are required to stop to indicate that they have completed the entire route.
