The remaining four teams in the MTC Maris Cup are set to entertain football lovers in Mariental on Saturday.
The town of Mariental braces itself for a top football clash as the MTC Maris Cup sets ground in the South.
African Stars, Young African FC, Bucks Buccaneers, and Unam are all vying for the ultimate once-off prize of N$1.5 million, which will be awarded to the eventual winners.
This will, however, be the second-to-last hurdle of a tournament that began in the round of 16 less than two months ago.
Now, only two teams will progress to the final, setting up an intriguing showdown in Windhoek.
The remaining teams still believe they have a chance to get their hands on the trophy and prize money.
Pundits have tipped African Stars as the hot favorites, but clubs like Young African and Bucks Buccaneers are also in top form and ready to challenge the favorites.
The first semi-final match will see Young African FC take on Unam at 14:00 on Saturday, followed by African Stars facing Bucks Buccaneers at 17:00.
The matches will be played at the Mariental Sports Stadium, with the final set to take place in Windhoek.
Bucks Buccaneers coach Woody Jacobs expects his team to fight as if it were their last-ever match.
“As a coach, one can only look forward to a match of such magnitude with excitement as we prepare to face the favorites.
“To say how we are going to play and whether we will win can only be judged by our performance on the day.
“I do, however, believe we can get the better of African Stars if our team fully utilizes the talent at its disposal,” Jacobs said.
Bucks Buccaneers booked their place in the MTC Maris Cup semi-finals with a dramatic 1-0 victory over crowd favorites KK Palace.
African Stars' current coach, Benedictus Haoseb, has less experience in cup matches of this magnitude but has already proven his capabilities after leading the team to six points in Oshakati following the resignation of coach Ronnie Kanalelo.
“As a team, we must be ready to face a very talented opponent, and I believe we can get the result.
“Training has gone well, and the players are optimistic about pulling off something special on the day,” Haoseb said.
African Stars secured their place in the semi-final with a 1-0 win over Mighty Gunners, while Young African defeated Ongos FC 1-0 to book their spot.
Unam FC sealed their place in the semis with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Blue Waters FC. All the quarterfinal matches were played in Oshakati.
