Bank helps NASFED expand swimming

At the recent announcement of Bank Windhoek’s sponsorship of N$400 000 to the Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation (NASFED) in Windhoek, NASFED president Riaan Steyn said the sponsorship will enhance swimming gala events hosted throughout Namibia.

“Swimming galas allow participants to compete locally, improve their best times, and qualify for various championships, including the national championships,” he said.

Steyn said NASFED will also use part of the sponsorship funds for Corporate Social Responsibility through a ‘Learn to Swim’ programme. The programme will be facilitated by a roadshow introducing swimming training in various Namibian communities, which the Bank added was one area it looks forward to seeing because all Namibians should have access to the potentially life-saving skill of swimming.

Steyn said another leg of the programme will include tutoring coaches to allow them to facilitate ‘Learn to Swim’ coaching schools.
