Brave Warriors international Aprocius Petrus returns to to play his club football on the African continent, after joining South African Premiership side Cape Town City FC from Kosovo.

The defender previously spent time in Europe plying his trade for Liria Prizren since 2022, where he played alongside fellow Namibian, midfielder Prins Tjiueza.

The Cape Town side announced on Tuesday that the player has penned a deal with them in order to fill a void in their defensive arsenal.

In response, Petrus said: “I am happy to have joined Cape Town City and this will just be the beginning of good things.

“There is not much I can say at the moment, because it is just the start of my career at the club. I would love to help the team and do what I was brought in for.”

Petrus was a member of the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors team that competed at the Africa Cup of Nations in January. Namibia made history by winning their first Afcon match, and qualifying for the round of 16 for the first time.

He normally played as a left back for most parts of his career, but has been used in central defence at times by Brave Warriors coach Collin Benjamin.

The player started his Namibia Premier League career at Eleven Arrows FC in 2017, before joining coastal rivals Blue Waters FC during the 2021-2022 season.

At the age of 24, Petrus has been dubbed as one of the rising modern left backs the country has produced in recent times.

He joins a club which is doing relatively well in the premiership this season, and that finish the previous season in third place.

Cape Town City are currently in fifth place on the DStv premiership table after having played 20 matches so far.

They have won nine of their fixtures this season, while losing seven and ending four on a draw.

Cape Town City has scored 20 premiership goals, but the 16 goals they’ve conceded has prompted their coach, former Bafana Bafana international Eric Tinkler, to approach the market for a defender.
