Otweya residents rejoice as electricity woes resolved

Two weeks ago, Otweya settlement residents in Walvis Bay turned to local newspapers to highlight their plight concerning a lack of electricity in their homes.

A community representative, Nehale lya Mpingana, listed the struggles faced by residents living without electricity, including the impact felt by learners who rely on electricity for studying and completing homework.

Following the publication of their concerns, Erongo Red, together with the municipality of Walvis Bay, and the Erongo governor's office, promptly responded to the community's call for action.

Just two weeks after the initial cry for help, residents welcomed representatives from Erongo RED, who arrived to address their electricity grievances.

Expressing his gratitude, Mpingana said: "I want to thank Erongo RED for hearing our cries, and for giving every house electricity."

He also thanked the Walvis Bay authorities for "hearing our cries and for giving every house electricity."

He said the community also extended appreciation to the local newspapers for amplifying their concerns and facilitating positive change within their community.
