Okapare fishermen still dissatisfied

A large group of fishermen, known as the Okapare Fishermen, have expressed their dissatisfaction with the government employment redress programme. They argue that the programme has not lived up to their expectations, particularly concerning employment conditions and wages. The fishermen, who were hopeful for improved opportunities after being included in the programme, are frustrated by what they describe as "slave salaries" that are inadequate to cover basic living expenses, including decent housing for themselves and their families. They claim that the fisheries ministry, along with the labour ministry, has failed to fulfil its commitments.
