Matengu gets second term as Unam VC
NEWS IN SHORT
The University of Namibia (Unam) council has reappointed Prof Dr Kenneth Matengu as Unam vice chancellor, effective 1 August this year.
Matengu was first appointed as vice chancellor in 2018, succeeding Professor Lazarus Hangula.
“We recognise the exceptional leadership that Prof Matengu has demonstrated over the past six years. He has not only served Unam, but also capably leads the council of the Pan-African University as its president, among other hats he deservingly carries," Unam council chairperson Dr David Uirab commented.
On his part, Matengu said: “I deeply appreciate the vote of confidence from the council", adding that he is "committed to delivering on the university mandate and strategic objectives, ensuring that we continue to build on our successes and address any challenges".
Matengu said the university is currently concluding the implementation of its previous strategic plan and has finalised the new integrated strategic business plan for the next six years.
