Leaders must communicate effectively - !Nawases-Taeyele
Urban and rural development deputy minister Evelyn !Nawases-Taeyele has commended the work of traditional leaders in Namibia.
Nevertheless, she urged them to be transparent and communicate effectively.
!Nawases-Taeyele said this during the 24th annual meeting of the Council of Traditional Leaders in Swakopmund on Friday.
She said good governance, transparency and effective communication are "critical cornerstones" and "conditions for ensuring social cohesion, effective administration, and the development of the country”.
She expressed government’s appreciation to traditional leaders for their “continued partnership with the government in promoting harmony and safeguarding the welfare of the members of the communities under their care.”
She underlined the president's view that all Namibians "have the right to practice their traditions and cultures, but in a manner that respects the rights of others, contributes to the process of nation-building and national reconciliation, and has a collective duty to hold hands and contribute towards the revival of our economy for shared prosperity.”
