Illegal hunting continues

Four male suspects were arrested at Farm Otjipaue over the weekend near Kalkfeld after allegedly illegally hunting and killing two zebras, one oryx and one kudu with snare wires.

The suspects are aged between 20 and 52.

"It is further alleged that the suspects were spotted at farm Ondombo West on Sunday, 31 December 2023, before they moved to farm Otjipaue,” a report issued by the police stated.

“A sting operation was set up, and all four suspects were arrested, and about 60 other snare wires were removed from the field,” the police explained.

According to the police, the suspects were camping on the farm while slaughtering the animals.

The police stated that the combined value of the illegally killed wildlife amounted to around N$116 000.
