Hardap and ||Karas MSMEs boosted

On Tuesday, trade minister Lucia Iipumbu officiated the Equipment Aid Scheme (EAS) handover in Mariental, which will benefit MSMEs in the Hardap and ||Karas regions.
The initiative, part of the government's ongoing support for entrepreneurship, provides essential equipment to boost productivity and economic impact.
Under the 2023/2024 programme, Hardap saw 29 approved applications, receiving N$708 592.42, while ||Karas achieved a 95% approval rate, with 37 beneficiaries receiving N$971 369.53.
Since its inception, EAS has supported over 3 000 enterprises nationwide, fostering job creation and industrial growth.
Iipumbu emphasised government's commitment to strengthening MSMEs through equipment provision, training and mentorship, particularly for youth and women entrepreneurs. She also encouraged the public to support local businesses through the 'Buy Local, Grow Namibia' campaign.
"This initiative empowers entrepreneurs, enhances productivity and contributes to Namibia's socio-economic development," she said.
