Cross-border connectivity gets a boost
NEWS IN SHORT
Information and communication technology minister Emma Theofelus has signed cooperation agreements with her counterparts from Angola, Zimbabwe and Zambia to harmonise roaming costs across the countries.
This continues the collaboration that has already led to a reduction in roaming fees between Namibia and Botswana, which is aimed at promoting cross-border communication and strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
Theofelus last week said that continuing the initiative will significantly improve the lives of Namibians living along the borders of these countries through enhanced and affordable access to connectivity.
“Our collaboration with Botswana is a testament to our efforts to provide affordable communication services to all Namibians, ultimately creating a positive ripple effect on other sectors such as trade, tourism and overall cross-border connectivity,” the minister said.
