Crash claims one life
A man died and six others were injured in a single-vehicle accident in the Omaruru district on Saturday.
Head of community policing in the Erongo Region, Inspector Ileni Shapumba, confirmed the accident, which happened 10 km from Omaruru towards the Walfrieden gravel road.
The deceased was identified as Hefeni Ndahalele Atanasius (29). His next of kin have been informed.
According to Shapumba, the six occupants were travelling in a double cab when the driver allegedly "lost control of the vehicle and it overturned, causing serious injuries to passengers. One occupant was thrown out of the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other occupants were attended to and taken to Omaruru State Hospital for treatment."
Three occupants, including the driver, sustained serious injuries, while two occupants sustained mild injuries.
