Namibia gutted after Zim defeat

Coach hopes for a better performance
Namibia will have to win their last Cosafa Cup Championship match against Lesotho with a hope that Zimbabwe beat Botswana in order to have any possible chance of progressing out of group C.

Brave Gladiators coach Paulus Shipanga expressed disappointment following the team's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Zimbabwe in the Cosafa Women's Championship yesterday.

"We are definitely disappointed with the result.

"We still have one more match to play and we can only hope for a better result," Shipanga said.

The two teams started off testing each other's tactics, with the Zimbabweans looking comfortable on the ball.

The Brave Gladiators however looked the more dangerous on the break in the opening minutes of the match.

Namibia squandered crucial goal scoring chances which resulted in the Zimbabweans growing in confidence.

Zimbabwe took an 18th minute lead after Rudo Neshamba's

perfect run was rewarded with a cool finish.

The second half saw Namibia pushing ladies forward in an attempt to grab an equalizer.

It was however the Zimbabweans that extended their lead following a well taken free kick.

Nobukhosi Ncube's dead ball proved hard to deal with as it went all the way into the back of the net to give the Zimbabweans a comfortable lead.

The Namibians were once again caught nabbing and almost conceded a third just minutes after the second but the Zimbabweans missed the chance.

The Zimbabweans had 7 shots at goal by the 70th minute compared to Namibia's 4.
