Windhoek to host Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit

Francoise Steynberg
Namibia is gearing up to welcome over 500 youth and women in tourism from across Africa for the 2024 Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit.

Scheduled to take place from 28 to 31 May in Windhoek, the summit, hosted by the Namibian ministry of environment, forestry and tourism, promises to mark a significant gathering in the tourism sector.

Endorsed and supported by various organisations, including the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, Africa Tourism partners, BDO Namibia and Millvest, this year’s summit focuses on amplifying the voices of young women in travel, tourism tech entrepreneurs, hospitality and aviation professionals. The aim is to address gender disparity and empower women in the tourism industry.

The summit will feature a ministerial round table with key speakers, including government officials from Namibia and representatives from AfCFTA Secretariat, Ghana. The session aims to raise awareness about equal opportunities and inspire solutions to gender inequality in the tourism sector.

With speakers from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mauritius, Kenya and Ghana, among others, the summit promises a diverse range of perspectives and experiences. Participants will engage in discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities to foster collaboration and innovation in the tourism industry.

Known as the 'Land of the Brave', Namibia offers a unique blend of cultures and landscapes, from the harsh beauty of the Namib desert to the bounty of the Atlantic Ocean. Attendees are encouraged to explore the country’s rich heritage and natural wonders while attending the summit.
