Question: What change do you hope to see by casting your vote?
Paulus Vihemba, National African Students’ Association president

By casting my vote this year, I want to see educational development in the Kavango East Region. I want to see the construction of more schools to accommodate the growing number of students, as there are still learners studying in shacks and under trees. I also want to see the formalisation of the agriculture school planned by Unam at the Mashare Green Scheme, as it will provide the technical skills needed for farming and contribute to food security.

David Nekaro, Rundu community activist, spokesperson for unemployed teachers

As a young person, I'm hoping that my vote will address issues such as high youth unemployment, corruption, high crime rates, teenage pregnancy and the provision of quality services.

Additionally, I am voting for a government that is willing to integrate youth into decision-making processes, structures, and systems to ensure youth-driven interests are represented. I support a government that prioritises decentralised schemes and projects in the region to promote food security and create employment at the regional level.

Currently, most decisions are made by older individuals in positions of power, often without consulting the most affected population: the youth.

Frans Moyo, Rundu community activist

“As voters, we must stand up and demand services from the leadership of the party we vote for. To the young people, we should be part of politics; it's the only way we can demand the change we need.

To our leaders, fulfil the promises you made during your campaigns. You are elected by the people based on what you say you will do for them. Last but not least, let’s go register for our voter cards!
