Venaani vows economic transformation for Kavango West

News in short
Nikanor Nangolo
Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) president McHenry Venaani has unveiled an ambitious plan to drive economic transformation in the Kavango West Region, focusing on agriculture, rural development and youth empowerment.

Speaking at a rally in Nkurenkuru over the weekend, Venaani promised to tackle the region’s deep-rooted socioeconomic challenges and unlock its untapped potential. "Kavango West has rich potential, but it faces significant hurdles," he said. He outlined his vision for turning the region into an agricultural powerhouse, pledging that - if voted into power - his government would "vigorously pursue a policy of agricultural revolution and agrimodernisation”.

“We are going to plant [in] Kavango [West] like never before. We are going to create food and jobs for Namibians.”

Venaani committed to investing 10% of Namibia's gross domestic product (GDP) in agriculture and promised to bring factories, processing plants and value chains to rural areas.
