Swapo returnee urges young people to vote for Nandi-Ndaitwah
Former Affirmative Repositioning (AR) spokesperson Simon Amunime was among more than 27 people who rejoined the Swapo party on Saturday at the Oshakati Independence Stadium during the ruling party’s Oshana star rally.
Amunime, along with others, campaigned for the youth, who make up the majority of the Namibian population, to cast a vote for Swapo vice-president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at the upcoming election.
He said that those who have been questioning his membership can stop, as he only belongs to the ruling party and has no affiliation with any other party.
Amunime displayed two Swapo membership cards to the packed stadium – one for the Swapo youth wing and another for the main party.
'For those who have doubts,' he said.
Vote for Swapo
Amunime also used the platform to encourage young Namibians to vote for Swapo and its presidential candidate.
He described Swapo as the only "progressive, dependable, reliable and sustainable political machinery at the disposal for our people."
“We are urging all young people that constitute the majority of our population, which is over 70%, that come 27 November, we are going to vote for Nandi-Ndaitwah,” Amunime stressed.
Former Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) councillor at Oniipa, Petrus Nakanyala, echoed the sentiment that young people should ensure Swapo wins the elections.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said that, given the youth make up the majority of the population, Swapo has deliberately chosen to invest in sectors that empower them.
“To enhance youth development, attention shall be given to the creative and sports industries through investment into training and infrastructure development, thereby creating job opportunities for our youth,” she said.
