Swapo, govt to survive Geingob’s death - Nekongo
News in short
Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) secretary Ephraim Nekongo has praised late president Hage Geingob’s role in creating enduring institutions for both Namibia and Swapo.
“The institutions are already built, and he [Geingob] is one of those who played a big role in terms of building that architecture for us as a party, and also for government. Therefore, the party stands tall,” he said.
Swapo's constitution was further proof of the institution Geingob played a part in strengthening, Nekongo said.
“There is nothing really the party cannot do, because we already have the systems in place.”
According to him, all efforts should be directed to giving Geingob a dignified send-off before any talks of succession begin.
“As a party, we need to respect the Geingob family [and] give [him] a good send-off.”
