Parties procrastinate on vetting voters
Six of the 20 political parties participating in the November national elections have not collected their copies of the provisional voters' register, which is available to parties until tomorrow, the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has confirmed.
While it is not compulsory, the electoral law allows political parties the opportunity to scrutinise the register and object to the inclusion of any of the 1 451 444 names on the provisional register.
Last week, the ECN provided the provisional register to all political parties contesting the election.
ECN spokesperson De Wet Siluka confirmed late yesterday that the parties are yet to collect their electronic copies.
The ECN did not disclose the names of the parties.
Most of the parties received their copies last week when the register was made available.
